Anxiety Therapy in Mesa, Arizona and Lander, WY | Bloom & Breathe Therapy

You do not have to let anxiety make your world smaller.

Anxiety can make it difficult to feel present, trust yourself, or enjoy the parts of life that matter most. You may find yourself constantly anticipating what could go wrong, replaying conversations, seeking reassurance, avoiding certain situations, or feeling unable to quiet your mind. Even when everything appears fine from the outside, your body may feel tense, restless, or stuck in a state of high alert.

At Bloom & Breathe Therapy, we provide compassionate, evidence-based anxiety therapy for adolescents and adults. Together, we can help you better understand your anxiety, develop practical ways to respond to it, and move toward a life guided by your values rather than fear.

What Is Anxiety?

Anxiety is a natural response to stress, uncertainty, or perceived danger. In some situations, it can help us prepare, solve problems, and stay safe. However, anxiety can become overwhelming when it feels persistent, difficult to control, or out of proportion to the situation.

An anxiety disorder is more than occasional nervousness. It can affect your relationships, work or school performance, sleep, physical health, confidence, and ability to participate fully in daily life. Anxiety may also lead to avoidance, which can bring temporary relief but often strengthens fear over time.

Common Signs of Anxiety

Anxiety can look different from one person to another. Common symptoms may include:

  • Persistent worry or a sense that something bad is going to happen

  • Racing thoughts or difficulty quieting the mind

  • Overthinking decisions or repeatedly second-guessing yourself

  • Irritability, restlessness, or feeling on edge

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Trouble falling asleep or staying asleep

  • Muscle tension, headaches, nausea, or digestive discomfort

  • A racing heart, shortness of breath, dizziness, or sweating

  • Panic attacks

  • Avoiding people, places, responsibilities, or unfamiliar situations

  • Seeking frequent reassurance from others

  • Perfectionism, procrastination, or fear of making mistakes

You do not need to experience every symptom—or have a formal diagnosis—to benefit from therapy.

Types of Anxiety We Treat

We support clients experiencing many forms of anxiety, including:

Generalized Anxiety

Generalized anxiety may involve ongoing, difficult-to-control worry about several areas of life, such as family, health, finances, work, school, or the future. You may feel as though your mind is always searching for the next problem to solve.

Panic Attacks and Panic Disorder

Panic attacks can involve sudden, intense fear accompanied by physical sensations such as a pounding heart, chest tightness, dizziness, trembling, or shortness of breath. Therapy can help reduce fear of these sensations and the avoidance that may develop around them.

Social Anxiety

Social anxiety can create a strong fear of being judged, embarrassed, rejected, or viewed negatively. It may make conversations, meetings, school, dating, public speaking, or social gatherings feel exhausting or unsafe.

Specific Phobias

A specific phobia is an intense fear of a particular object or situation, such as flying, driving, animals, medical procedures, vomiting, or enclosed spaces. Avoidance may provide short-term relief while making the fear more powerful over time.

Perinatal and Postpartum Anxiety

Anxiety can begin or intensify during pregnancy or after childbirth. It may include constant worry about the baby, difficulty sleeping even when the baby is asleep, physical tension, irritability, repeated checking, or feeling unable to relax. Perinatal anxiety is common and treatable, and seeking support does not mean you are failing as a parent.

Health Anxiety

Health anxiety may involve persistent fears about illness, frequent checking of physical sensations, repeated online research, reassurance seeking, or difficulty trusting medical information. Therapy can help you respond differently to uncertainty and bodily sensations.

Anxiety can also occur alongside depression, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), ADHD, grief, or major life transitions. Your therapist will work with you to understand the full picture rather than reducing your experience to a single symptom or label.

How Therapy Can Help

Anxiety therapy is not about eliminating every uncomfortable thought or feeling. Anxiety is part of being human. Instead, therapy can help you build a different relationship with anxiety so it no longer has to control your choices.

Depending on your needs, therapy may help you:

  • Recognize patterns that keep anxiety going

  • Understand your emotional and physical responses to stress

  • Reduce avoidance and gradually approach feared situations

  • Respond to anxious thoughts with greater flexibility

  • Tolerate uncertainty without relying on reassurance or checking

  • Develop grounding, coping, and emotional-regulation skills

  • Set healthier boundaries and communicate more effectively

  • Process experiences that may contribute to feeling unsafe or on guard

  • Reconnect with relationships, activities, and goals that matter to you

Our Approach to Anxiety Treatment

At Bloom & Breathe Therapy, treatment is personalized to your symptoms, experiences, identities, strengths, and goals. Our therapists may draw from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness, and other evidence-based practices.

We will begin by learning about what you are experiencing and how anxiety is affecting your life. From there, we will collaborate on a treatment plan that feels understandable, purposeful, and manageable. Therapy may include learning practical skills, exploring deeper patterns, processing past experiences, and gradually practicing new responses to fear and uncertainty.

We will never expect you to confront your greatest fear all at once. When exposure-based treatment is appropriate, the process is collaborative, gradual, and designed to help you build confidence over time.

What to Expect

Your first appointment is an opportunity to share what has been happening, ask questions, and discuss what you hope will change. You and your therapist will explore your symptoms, history, strengths, and current stressors before identifying treatment goals together.

You do not need to arrive with the right words or a complete understanding of your anxiety. We will help you make sense of it at a pace that respects where you are.
